Welcome

The Respect Aging project was designed to educate and train various audiences in the recognition, prevention and intervention of violence against older persons. The vision of this project is that all older persons in this province should live free from fear, exploitation and violence in safe and supportive communities.

Violence is rooted in inequality and can take many forms. All forms of violence are unacceptable, and have damaging, long-term impacts on those who experience it. This site contains helpful information for older persons who may experience violence, community and health care workers, and the general public.

Links to training materials are provided for the Respect Aging program. These materials are meant to provide information, resources and tools for anyone who interacts with older persons affected by or likely to experience violence.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Violence Prevention Initiative at vpi@gov.nl.ca or (709) 729-5009.
